I was never a “makeup person”. Once, in the mid-90’s, I did have a makeover at a reputable makeup counter in the mall. I spent a good amount of money, brought the makeup home, and discovered that I didn’t know what to do with it. After that I just didn’t bother, and quite frankly, didn’t think I needed makeup. Fast forward 15 years, after having moved to Israel, and I am introduced to Devorah Cosmetics as part of a focus group. I found it amusing- me as part of a focus group for something I don’t use or really need. As it turns out, I was wrong.

Devorah opened the “makeup meetup” (a name she gave informal makeup parties) by explaining her system- a makeup palette customized for the individual. In other words, you only go home with what you need and want. She then asked each of us to look into the small mirrors in front of us and focus on what we like about our face, because her makeup is meant to enhance those features. There was only the positive- no hiding aspects of ourselves we don’t like. I think she had me then. The silky, smooth powders were so natural and application almost instinctive. I looked like me- only better. I have been hooked ever since. I don’t feel that I have to wear it (see accompanying picture), but it helps me feel confident and focused. It has become an integral 3-5 minute part of my morning routine.
